Nothing but happy colors!

One thing that makes Granada such a beautiful city is the variety of bright, cheerful colors of the buildings. It is a colonial city and the architecture is interesting as well, but what I really love are the colors. People continually paint the front of their homes and businesses, which keeps everything bright. This is a lot easier than in the US where there are four sides of the house to paint, here there is only one side showing. Photos of homes and businesses from a walk I took on Sunday.

a business just off the main plaza

an Irish bar, has wi-fi

more streets of color

white, owned by an American couple

more sedate business, all the roofs in the central area have to have the traditional overlapping tile

you don’t have to be fancy to be colorful

Very nice. I’ve seen a similar home down in Mexico and the insides are very Spanish colonial and open.

    Hey Marty,

A great blog or whatever your wonderful vignettes are called. The experiences you are having are fantastic. How is the Spanish coming along? Bet you are chattering away now.

Thank you so much for the invite. I will look into flights. Nicaragua seems so far away and so different. But having you a semi-native now to guide would be super.

Thanks for the birthday greeting too. I had a real nice time and even this Friday, the cul de sac “girls” will be taking me out to lunch. On May 4, Karen took me to lunch at a tea house. It was adorable. An old Victorian, decorated with many, many teapots. They serve lunch and afternoon tea. We had lunch with our own pots of tea.

That weekend Michael and his family were in NJ for a baseball tournament for Jaxon. So we were all together which I love so much.

Things are good here. I am enjoying my garden as usual. The spring flowers are spectacular this year especially since I have some new irises.

Take care and continue to have fun…….Linda
